The Crush Bonspiel Brings International Curlers to Roseville for Labor Day Weekend

Wine Country Curling Club (WCCC) is counting down the days until their signature bonspiel, The Crush, comes to Skatetown Ice Arena in Roseville over Labor Day weekend.

Twenty-four teams are participating and with four members on a team that means nearly 100 curlers will be competing at the Crush this year.

Several California curling clubs will be representing the Bay Area, Hollywood and Lake Tahoe. Out-of-state teams participating will be traveling from Oregon, Colorado, Iowa, Ohio, South and North Carolina and two Canadian teams will be competing as well.

The first draws will take place at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 1 and the opening ceremonies are slated for 4:30 p.m. that same day where you can hear the Scottish bagpipes that pay homage to this unique sport. Saturday, Sept. 2 games will begin at 9 a.m. and Sunday the final rounds are scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m.
