Fact : Cancer cells will "eat" the body when they run out of food.

Gluconeogenesis is a process which the body uses to provide an energy source during periods when there is not an adequate intake of nutritional support to meet its needs for glucose (sugar). The pathway becomes active during periods of low blood sugar levels and during periods of fasting. The energy which is produced through the pathway is derived from several sources within the body. Two of the primary sources are the amino acids derived from muscle tissue and lactic acid (the waste product of both muscle and tumor metabolism) . The significance of the gluconeoenesis pathway can be seen with the following example. Our bodies need for glucose is met by the foods we eat. The carbohydrates we eat are broken down into glucose (sugar).
The body uses what it needs at that time and the rest is stored in liver and other tissues while the remainder is converted into fat. It is when we do not eat that gluconeogenesis is activated within the body.

This is one of the reasons that when people are on very strict diet plans to lose weight they not only lose fat, but they also lose muscle tissue. The body uses glycerol from fat and amino acids in the muscle tissue to be transformed through the liver into glucose to meet its needs. Even if you do not eat any food the body can produce significant amounts of glucose (100-200 gms/day) through this process to meet its needs. Cancer cells need large amounts of glucose to progress. They are essentially 'sugar feeders'. A cancer tumor consumes glucose in amounts 4-5 times greater than normal cells. The reason for this is that when a normal cell is converted into a malignant (abnormal rapidly dividing) cell it goes from a cell that likes oxygen to one that hates oxygen. This does not mean the cell does not utilize oxygen it simply needs lesser amounts. If a normal healthy cell only had the amount of oxygen available to it that the tumor cell requires, it could not survive. That is because the tumor cells primary energy source becomes glucose (sugar) and not oxygen.

Once a cell becomes malignant the metabolism within the body immediately changes. The effects are not as noticeable at first but as the tumor progresses and uses more and more glucose the effects become much more obvious. Tumor formation has a way of triggering the body into a constant state of gluconeogenesis. This way at no time is the tumor not acquiring the vast amounts of glucose it needs for growth. At the same time the tumor is inducing gluconeogenesis for its own energy supply, it is also taking critical elements from the normal healthy cells in order to keep this process ongoing. This constant depletion of critical elements from the normal healthy cells is what eventually leads to cancer cachexia (or the wasting syndrome) . It is often thought that the cachexic state only occurs in patients going into late stages of the disease but this is a misconception. This process begins on day 1 when the tumors growth begins. It only becomes noticed physically over a period of time once the depletion has become very extensive. This is why it is so important to begin antigluconeogenisis therapy early in the disease process to block the tumors ability to starve the body to produce the glucose it needs for itself. 

Because of the decreased amounts of oxygen within the tumor it does not undergo a complete cycle and excretes lactic acid as a waste product into the bloodstream. (Lactic acid is also the waste product of muscle metabolism. Most people recognize the production of lactic acid during exercise when the muscle is worked to the point where it burns. When the muscle is worked to exhaustion it uses up the available oxygen. Lactic acid begins to form when sufficient oxygen supply is not being met and the burning sensation occurs.) Because the tumor cell does not utilize oxygen as a normal cell does it gives off constant quantities of lactic acid. This increased elevation of lactic acid in the bloodstream can be correlated with the rate of tumor growth. The tumor uses its own lactic acid production to recycle through the liver to be converted back into glucose. This is often called a 'metabolic circuit'. Although you might be taking in less quantity of food by mouth available as a source of energy for the tumor, the tumor produces its own supply and essentially "feeds itself".

Gluconeogenesis occurs in the liver through the action of certain enzymes. In order to break the cycle or the "metabolic circuit" you must block one of the key enzymes which help to complete the cycle. This is the target of The Cancer Protocol. Fact : Cancer Cells have Electrical Activity within them
Inside every cell in our bodies there is electrical activity that drives the cell to perform certain functions that allow it to progress and survive. One of the most important parts of the cells respiratory system is the oxidation reduction system. This is the system that produces energy for the cell to do its work. You can think of this system like a battery. It is what allows the cells to maintain a charge and keeps the system running properly. Let’s look at the oxidation / reduction system like a ladder. Each step of the ladder has a different chemical reaction taking place that produces energy for the cell to survive. At the top of the ladder are the normal cells which require higher amounts of energy because of the complex processes which it requires for proper function. At the bottom of the ladder we have reactions which require less energy to maintain themselves. As you move towards the top of the ladder the amount of energy increases, from 0.2 volts at the bottom to 0.4 volts at the top.

Cancer cells are about 85% of the way up this ladder . They stop at what is termed 'the critical (cancerous) point'. It cannot go up the ladder because it is not a normal healthy cell anymore but it also cannot move down the ladder so it remains at this 'steady state' point. The problem with having these cells at this 'steady state' point is that the body does not know how to deal with them. It is somewhat like jumping a fence. Nutrition- Starving the Tumor

As stated before the cancer cells primary source of energy is derived from sugar. Once a cell becomes malignant it begins consuming 4-5x more sugar in comparison with normal cells. Therefore the goal of nutrition is to keep blood sugar levels low through a proper diet. It is very important to eat a diet with a low percentage of carbohydrates (app. 30-35%). One of the most commonly asked questions is concerning the intake of pasta. a food group loaded with carbohydrates. It will soon become clearer where the gluconeogenesis pathway plays alongside the maintenance of adequate blood sugar levels. Under normal situations maintaining low glucose conentrations by limiting dietary intake would trigger the gluconeogenesis pathway to activate and reload the body by increasing blood sugar levels thereby resupplying the tumors energy source. The Cancer Protocol also utilizes enzyme therapy. A tumor sends out a hormone known as HCG (human chorionicgonadotrophin). (This is the same hormone which is detected by home pregnancy test). This hormone is also the same hormone given off by embryonic cells following conception during the first months of pregnancy. An embryonic cell and a cancer cell are essentially the same. Fact : Cancer cells hate oxygen!
When a normal "oxygen loving" cancer cell is transformed into a malignant cell the oxygen loving characteristics of the cell change. The malignant cell as mentioned earlier turns from oxygen loving to oxygen hating due to its new fuel source - sugar. An increased amount of oxygenation to the malignant cancer cell can be deadly.
