Brewfest in Rocklin at Sunset Whitney June 9th

ROCKLIN - To some, it's just beer. To others, it's a special brew carefully created with a view toward creating a unique and pleasing taste.

On June 9, one of South Placer's leading charitable organizations will host its fourth annual Brewfest, inviting the community to come and sample more than 20 microbrews poolside at Sunset Whitney Golf Club in Rocklin.

"Brewfest is our biggest annual fundraiser and one that has been well-received and anticipated by the community," said Tony Owings, president of the South Placer Rotary and owner of A.R. Owings Financial Strategies. "We are looking forward to presenting a great event."

Tickets for the event, which runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., are $25 per person and $5 for designated drivers. Proceeds from the event will benefit the South Placer Rotary's charitable efforts, which include raising funds for college scholarships, investing in community improvement projects and supporting international efforts to aid children in need.

To purchase tickets, please visit www.SouthPlacerRotary.org or call 916-786-4848.

Breweries that will be present include: Lagunitas Brewing Company; Sierra Nevada Brewing Company; Shipyard Brewing Company; Mendocino Brewing Company; Alaskan Brewing Company; and Loomis Basin Brewery.

This year's event chairs are Paul Ruhkala of Ruhkala Granite & Marble Company and Gordon Holt of the City of Rocklin.

"This is a great community celebration, tasting fine brews and enjoying an afternoon at Sunset Whitney," Ruhkala said. "Best of all, this event generates the funds we need to give back to the community and make the difference in the lives of many young people right here in Rocklin and around the world."

Holt said about 400 to 500 people are expected for this year's event, which will also feature live music. Sponsors for the event include Minuteman Press and Halldin Public Relations Inc.

"We have great opportunities for businesses to sponsor this event as well as being year-round sponsors of the Rotary's efforts," Holt said. "Businesses are welcome to showcase their products and services during this great day by the pool at Sunset Whitney."
