Rocklin--Student projects from Career and Technical Education majors will be exhibited in Ridley Gallery at Sierra College Rocklin Campus beginning January 23, 2013.

The exhibit, Tech Know, will highlight recent projects from students majoring in Applied Art and Design, Computer Information Systems, Drafting and Engineering Support, Early Childhood Education, Fashion Design, Mechatronics, Metals, Photography, and Technical Theatre.

These projects cover a range of skills and approaches from beginning welding projects, to advanced graphic designs focused on typography to pre-professional stage craft for theatre production. Mechatronics will display student built robots and Fashion Design will showcase several student created garments. Each project demonstrates problem solving, often stressing originality and always requiring craftsmanship.

A new class in Photography, Alternative Processes, offered for the first time this fall semester, required that students build their own large format cameras and create prints using historic processes common in the 19th century. Alternative Process is a major career trend in fine art photography. Several examples of student cameras and prints will be on display along with the cameras.

A reception for Tech Know will be held on Tuesday, February 5 from 4-6 pm, where you can meet and talk with the student artists. Ridley Galley is located on the first floor of the Library/LR 102, on the Rocklin campus, located at 5000 Rocklin Rd, Rocklin. The exhibit runs from January 23 through February 23. Regular hours for Ridley Gallery are 11am -6:00 pm Monday through Thursday. Admission to Ridley Gallery is free and open to the public.

There is a $3 parking fee on campus. Parking permits are available at dispensers located on the campus parking lot. For more information, Call (916) 660-7242 or check out our website at www.sierracollege.edu . Click on events
