Vacany on Planning Commission for Western Placer County

Placer County is seeking applications from residents interested in serving on the Planning Commission as an at-large representative of Western Placer County.

The county is seeking applications from residents who live in unincorporated areas, as well as people who reside within the boundaries of one of West Placer's incorporated communities: the Town of Loomis and the cities of Auburn, Colfax, Lincoln, Rocklin and Roseville.

The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, Feb. 15.

The Board of Supervisors will review the applications and appoint one of the applicants to a four-year term on the Planning Commission.

Placer County is seeking candidates with an understanding of planning issues, including general familiarity with land-use planning, county agriculture and real estate development.

The seven-member Planning Commission is the principal advisory body to the Board of Supervisors on planning and related matters. Its duties include holding public hearings, reviewing and making decisions on major development proposals. It makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on proposed general plans, studies and zoning text amendments.

Each of the five supervisor districts has a representative on the Planning Commission. The remaining two commissioners serve as at-large members, one to represent areas west of the Sierra Nevada crest and the other to represent areas to the east.

The commission normally meets at 10 a.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. Meetings take place in the Planning Commission Chambers at the Community Development Resource Center, 3091 County Center Drive, in North Auburn.

For application forms, call the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors Office at 530-889-4020 or go to the county website at http://www.placer.ca.gov/Applications.aspx#coco.

Completed applications should be delivered to the Clerk of the Board's Office in person or by mail. The office is located at 175 Fulweiler Ave. in Auburn.

The mailing address is 175 Fulweiler Ave., Auburn, CA 95603.
