Capital Readiness 2013 Seminar for Small Business

Rocklin, Calif. - Is your business 'loan ready'? That's one question experts and community bank representatives will answer when Sierra College hosts the free Capital Readiness 2013 seminar at its Rocklin Campus on March 14.

"A key to economic advancement in our region is the health and growth of the small businesses that are the foundation of our economy," said Willy Duncan, Sierra College President. "We support small businesses and are excited to offer this seminar to help them realize their dreams of expansion."

According to experts, people seeking loans to expand their business may have good credit but lack information and knowledge of bank requirements, such as the need for a business plan. It's inadequate preparation more than tight lending policies that often impede the borrowing process these days.

To smooth the process of business financing and to spur local economic growth, the California Community College Workforce & Economic Development initiative, in partnership with the Federal USDA, have chosen eleven sites statewide for this free seminar.

Officials from local lending institutions and financial experts will be on hand at the seminar to explain each step of the seemingly difficult process to qualify for financing. The seminar will have representatives from:

  • UC Davis Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • Greater Sacramento SBDC
  • Community 1st Bank
  • Five Star Bank
  • First Northern Bank

"Our college district is home to a large number of successful small business ventures because of our favorable business climate," said Duncan. "This event exemplifies our commitment to and continued partnership with those businesses."

The seminar will be held on March 14, at the Rocklin Campus Library (LR-133) from 9 am - 11 am (registration at 8:30).  Parking is reserved and free for attendees in lot A-1 (adjacent to the library).

Space is limited, so register today at CapitalReadiness.eventbrite.com. For more information contact Sue Michaels at 916-660-7271.
