Foresthill Bridge Closures Extended

Auburn, CA - The daily total closure of traffic on the Foresthill Bridge will be extended to the week of April 1 through April 5, from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., each day. The additional closures are needed to allow the contractor working on the bridge seismic retrofit project to place a crane on the north deck, which currently carries both directions of traffic. Provisions have been made to accommodate emergency vehicles.

The contractor finished the first stage of the pier work this week on the downstream side of the pier on the Auburn side of the bridge. Later this month, the same work will be performed on the downstream side of the pier on the Foresthill side of the bridge. There is currently no traffic on this side of the bridge.

The trails beneath the bridge will be closed while all pier work is taking place as a safety precaution. A crane will be lowering large steel assemblies into place under the bridge.

Signs announcing the closures will be placed at the trailheads, and changeable message signs will be stationed at road barricades that will be placed at the intersections of Foresthill Road and Lincoln Way and at Foresthill Road and Old Auburn Foresthill Road. The California Highway Patrol will have patrol cars and officers stationed at either end of the detour.

The detour route from Auburn will be Lincoln Way to Highway 49 to Old Auburn Foresthill Road. The route from Foresthill will be the reverse. The detour will be signed and changeable message boards will also be used to direct traffic around the closure.

For additional information, up-to-date closure information or to submit questions, please visit the project website: www.ForesthillBridgeRenewal.com.
