Roseville Crime Report Digest for August 27, 2013
Roseville, CA -- The Roseville Police Department's weekly crime report digest for August 27, 2013.
Olympus, illegal firearms and stolen property seized: At 10:32 p.m. August 21, an officer on patrol contacted two men in the parking lot of Olympus Junior High. One of them was on probation, and a search of his person and car produced an illegal switchblade knife, burglar's tools and suspected stolen property. Officers then searched his house in Citrus Heights, where they found a firearm and suspected stolen property. The 31-year-old Citrus Heights resident was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of burglar's tools and suspected stolen property, and other related charges.(DR 13-8720)
East Roseville Parkway, vehicle burglary: At about 7:15 p.m. August 19, someone broke into a car in a restaurant parking lot in the 2000 block of Taylor Road, and took a wallet. The suspect seen on video surveillance was a white male in his 30s, short and stocky, driving a white Ford SUV.
East Roseville Parkway, grand theft, arrest: Just before 2 p.m. August 26, Roseville officers responded to a theft from an ambulance parked outside Sutter Rosevillle Medical Center. While an ambulance crew was escorting a patient, another man got into the back of the ambulance and stole medication. Officers investigated and soon arrested a 26-year-old man at his home in Roseville on suspicion of grand theft and possessing stolen property.
Johnson Ranch, theft: At about 8:15 p.m. August 8, a woman was filling her car with fuel at a gas station in the 8600 block of Sierra College Blvd. when a man reached through her open passenger-side window, grabbed her purse and ran away. The suspect was a tall, thin white male in his 20s wearing a dark gray hoodie.
Sierra Gardens, burglary: Between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. August 21, someone kicked open the front door of a home in the 500 block of Loretto Drive while the resident was away. Jewelry and electronic items were taken.
Lead Hill, vehicle burglary: At 1:30 p.m. August 19, a woman parked her car in a parking lot in the 100 block of North Sunrise Avenue, hiding her purse between the two front seats. When she returned at 7:40 p.m., someone had smashed her car window and stolen her purse.
Leadhill, thefts from vehicles, arrest: At about 4 p.m. August 25, a citizen reported someone going into unlocked cars in a store parking lot in the 300 block of North Sunrise Avenue, and stealing things. The suspect had also approached people in the lot and asked them for money. Officers arrested a 24-year-old transient male from the Rocklin area on suspicion of theft, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Central Roseville, south of the tracks
Theiles Manor, DUI-related vehicle rollover: At 6:42 p.m. August 25, Roseville Department and Roseville Police Department personnel responded to a vehicle rollover on Vernon Street near Dudley Drive, with the driver trapped inside his 2005 Chevy Corvette. Officers determined that the driver was driving southbound on Vernon Street at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the Corvette while negotiating a curve. Roseville firefighters dealt with several issues on this crash, as the careening vehicle severed a fire hydrant, cut a power pole guide wire, tangling in power lines, and came to rest against a building in the Union Pacific railyard, causing structural damage to the building. The firefighter-paramedics quickly extricated the driver from the overturned vehicle, and he was transported to the hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. His passenger got out of the vehicle on his own and declined medical attention. The driver, a 38-year-old Roseville man, was cited at the hospital on suspicion of DUI and driving on a suspended license.
Cherry Glen, theft: At about 1 p.m. August 25, a man who had been hanging out inside a coffee shop in the 300 block of Douglas Boulevard for some time suddently grabbed an iPad belonging to the business from the counter and ran away with it. Employees gave chase but were unable to catch him. He was described as an Hispanic male in his 20s, 6'0" tall with a thin build, with short black spiked hair and a goatee, wearing a white tank top and blue jeans.
Folsom Road, vandalism: Between 8:15 and 1:10 p.m. August 18, someone broke the window of a car in a church parking lot in the 200 block of Estates Drive. Nothing was taken.
Folsom Road, robbery, arrest: At 5 a.m. August 26, a male robbed a convenience store in the 200 block of Harding Bl. at gunpoint, fleeing with cash and a bottle of vodka. Officers searched the area and located the suspect in the vicinity two hours later. The 41-year-old Roseville man was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
Central Roseville, north of the tracks
Roseville Heights, arrest: At 11:45 p.m. August 23, an officer was flagged down by bar security staff in the 100 block of Main Street regarding an intoxicated man they had detained. The officer took the man to the city jail to sober up, where he fought with jail staff and damaged city property. The 26-year-old Stockton resident was arrested on suspicion of resisting an executive officer and felony vandalism, and taken to the county jail.
Roseville Heights, assault: Shortly after 1 a.m. August 24., officers responded to an assault in a bar in the 300 block of Lincoln Street, where a male patron had reportedly punched a female patron he didn't know in the face. The victim was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of her injuries. Officers arrested the suspect, a 22-year-old Sacramento man, on suspicion of assault. The arrestee's brother then tried to forcefully free his brother from police custody. The brother, a 23-year-old Exeter man, was arrested on suspicion of lynching (trying to forcibly take someone from lawful police custody) and resisting arrest, and taken to jail.
Los Cerritos, vehicle theft: Overnight August 19/20, someone stole a blue 1994 GMC Sierra pickup from the 800 block of Main Street. CHP found it in the north Sacramento area on August 20, unoccupied and undamaged.
Kaseberg/Kingswood, stolen trailer: Between August 17 and the morning of August 20, someone stole a black 14' flatbed trailer from the 900 block of Porter Drive.
Kaseberg/Kingswood, robbery: At 12:30 a.m. Saturday August 24, four male teenagers were walking in the area of Washington Boulevard and Sawtell Road when a white 1990s model Ford Thunderbird pulled up next to them. The passenger got out of the car, pointed a handgun at them and demanded their property. The victims handed over wallets and a cell phone, and the suspect got back into the car and left. He was described as a black male in his 20s, about 5'9" with a stocky build, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt. The car was driven by another black male, no further description.
North Central Roseville
Foothills-Junction, theft: Between August 12 and 13, someone stole delivered packages of household items from a porch on Winfield Court.
Foothills-Junction, theft: Overnight August 21/22, someone rummaged through vehicles in the 1300 block of Ridgerun Drive, and took loose change. There was no sign of forced entry.
Foothills-Junction, disturbance: Just before 11 p.m. August 23, officers responded to several calls from neighbors about a disturbance and people screaming at Wanish Park. When officers arrived, they found the disturbance started as a fight between a teenage male and his girlfriend, with additional people getting involved, including one who improperly used pepper spray. Officers investigated and arrested two of the involved parties.
Highland Reserve, vandalism: Between midnight and 7:30 a.m. August 24, someone vandalized a resident's driveway light poles in the 1100 block of Trehowell Drive.
Quail Glen, vandalism: Between August 19-20, someone broke a window and dented the roof of a car parked in the 7100 block of Marblethorpe Drive.
Junction West, vehicle burglary: Overnight August 18/19, someone got into a van parked in the 1900 block of Ambridge Drive by unknown means, and took a portable GPS device. A black Diamond Back bicycle was also taken from the front porch.
Junction West, burglary: Overnight August 21/22, someone went into a garage in the 1800 block of Casterbridge Drive and took two off-road Yamaha motorcycles. It's unknown how the suspect got into the garage.
West Park, vehicle burglary: Between midnight and 6 a.m. August 21, someone got into a vehicle in the 2800 block of Bickleigh Loop by unknown means, taking ID and credit cards. One of the credit cards was used that morning at a gas station.
West Park, burglary: At 12:25 p.m. August 24, a resident was in his open garage in the 2200 block of Ellesmere Loop when a male he didn't know approached him and asked to borrow some rope. The resident went into his house for a few minutes, and came back to find the stranger gone, along with an expensive mountain bike from his garage. The suspect was described as a white male in his 30s, 6'0" tall and 250 pounds with short, shaggy brown hair and a goatee, wearing a gray t-shirt and tan shorts.
