Roseville Crime Report Digest (10-10-13)
The Roseville Police Department weekly crime report digest for the week ending October 12, 2013.
Galleria/Harding, vehicle burglaries: Between 7:45 and 9:30 p.m. October 3, someone broke the window of a car parked in the 1200 block of Roseville Parkway and stole a laptop computer from the rear passenger floorboard. Between 6 and 9:30 p.m. the following evening, someone broke into a car at the same location and stole cash and a purse with the victim's ID and credit cards. The purse had been hidden under the front passenger seat.
East Roseville Parkway, vehicle burglary: Between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. September 29, someone punched the lock of a car parked in the 500 block of North Sunrise Avenue, and stole the stereo.
Johnson Ranch, vehicle burglary: Overnight September 21/22, someone broke the window of a car parked in the 8800 block of Sierra College Blvd., and stole a cell phone.
Johnson Ranch, vehicle burglary: Between 5:15 and 6:15 p.m. October 2, someone got into a locked car in the 2500 block of Eureka Road by unknown means and stole a purse that had been left on the rear passenger floorboard. The victim's credit cards were fraudulently used at area stores.
Johnson Ranch, theft: Between 11:30 a.m. and noon October 3, a woman's wallet was stolen from her purse while she was shopping at a store in the 8600 block of Sierra College Boulevard. The victim's credit cards were used to make fraudulent purchases at another store in the area.
Maidu, theft: Between September 28 and October 1, someone stole batteries from a commercial truck parked in the 2100 block of Douglas Boulevard.
Sierra Gardens, vehicle theft: Overnight September 30/October 1, someone stole a green 1996 Honda Accord from the 1600 block of Sierra Gardens Drive.
Sierra Gardens, theft: Between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. October 2, someone stole a laptop computer from a car parked in the 1900 block of Douglas Blvd. Access was probably made through a window that was left partially open.
Lead Hill, vehicle burglary: Between 6 and 7:15 p.m. October 3, someone broke the window of a pickup parked in the 1500 block of Eureka Road and stole a briefcase from the rear passenger floorboard.
Lead Hill, attempted burglary: At 12:12 a.m. October 6, officers responded to an alarm at a business in the 2200 block of Lava Ridge Court. They found that someone had pried the glass door, but it didn't appear that anyone went in or stole anything. The would-be burglar may have been scared off by the audible burglar alarm.
Central Roseville, south of the tracks
Cirbyside, vehicle theft: Between 3 and 11 a.m. October 5, someone stole a gray Nissan Pathfinder SUV from Somer Ridge Drive.
Cresthaven, burglary: Between noon September 23 and 6 a.m. September 28, while the resident was gone, someone broke a back window of a home in the 500 block of Arlene Drive, and burglarized the home. It's unknown at this time what was taken.
Cresthaven, fraud: At 1:30 a.m. October 2, an officer on routine patrol stopped a car for a vehicle code violation in the 900 block of Riverside Avenue. A search of the vehicle produced numerous falsified ID cards and checks, and suspected stolen property. A 40-year-old man from Citrus Heights and a 54-year-old man from Carmichael were arrested on suspicion of forgery, possessing false ID, and conspiracy.
Central Roseville, north of the tracks
Roseville Heights, assaults: At 12:41 a.m. October 5, officers responded to an assault outside a bar in the 300 block of Lincoln Street, where the adult male victim had been knocked unconscious. The victim, a 30-year-old male from Roseville, was taken to the hospital for treatment, and a 29-year-old man from Rocklin was arrested on suspicion of assault causing serious bodily injury. At 1:48 a.m., officers responded to another assault victim who had been knocked out in front of a bar in the 100 block of Pacific Street. He was also transported to the hospital for treatment. No suspects have been identified at this time.
Vineyard, burglary: Between midnight and 9 a.m. October 1, someone went into a vacant house in the 1300 block of Chignahuapan Way and vandalized the floors. There was no sign of forced entry.
Kaseberg-Kingswood, disturbance: At 7:30 p.m. October 6, a lot of officers responded to a report of a large fight in the 2500 block of Quail Ridge, with reports of shots fired. When they arrived and sorted it out, they found that the source of the disturbance was a couple of intoxicated men, with one banging on a fence with a hammer. They were both detained and taken to jail to sober up.
Hilltop, altercation and arrest: At 6 p.m. October 4, officers responded to a call about a pickup driver trying repeatedly to run over a group of pedestrians in the 2100 block of March Road. With the help of witnesses, officers located and detained the suspected pickup driver in the parking lot of the Roseville Market on PFE Road. They found that the driver had gotten into an argument with a group of freight-train riders about them asking him for cigarettes. According to the victims and witnesses, the driver then got into his truck and drove directly at the victims, causing them to jump out of the way and take cover, and repeated the maneuver three or four times, until he crashed his car into some rocks in a landscape area and blew a tire. None of the victims reported being injured. A 39-year-old Roseville man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and DUI.
North Central Roseville
Foothills-Junction, vehicle burglary: Between 3 p.m. October 5 and 9 a.m. October 6, someone smashed the window of an SUV in the 2200 block of Longview Drive, and took DVDs, music CDs and other small items.
Diamond Oaks, theft: Overnight September 29/30, someone went through three unlocked cars on Jennifer Circle, taking loose change, a wallet and other items. One of the victim's credit cards was then used to make fraudulent purchases.
Stanford, burglary: At about 3 a.m. September 30, burglars pried the front door of a store in the 900 block of Pleasant Grove Blvd. and took electronic items.
Stanford, theft: At about 8:20 a.m. October 6, two unidentified men went into the unattended reception area of a church preschool in the 6400 block of Stanford Ranch Road and stole an employee's purse from behind the counter.
Industrial East, burglary: Between 7 p.m. October 6 and 7 a.m. October 7, someone smashed the front window of a hair salon in the 1200 block of Pleasant Grove Boulevard and rummaged through a desk, taking a small amount of money.
Woodcreek, vehicle burglary: Overnight September 27/28, someone pried the lock of a van parked in the 1400 block of Raeburn Way and stole tools.
Sun City, missing man found: At 8 p.m. October 8, Roseville Police and Roseville Fire personnel responded to Sun City for a report of a resident with dementia who had wandered away. They searched Sun City as well as the Blue Oaks area with the help of the Sacramento Police Department's helicopter. Sun City's volunteer citizens on patrol also turned out to help search, and they were the ones who found the resident safe and sound at about 9:10 p.m. He was reunited with his family.
Woodcreek, theft: Between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. October 4, someone stole a BMX bicycle from a front yard in the 1600 block of Blanchard Drive.
Quail Glen, vehicle burglary: Between 8 and 9:20 p.m. September 26, someone broke the window of a car parked at Cooley Middle School and stole a cell phone, tools and other items.
Quail Glen, thefts: Between September 30 and October 1, someone stole the stereo, GPS and other items from an unlocked car in the 1500 block of Pleasant Grove Blvd. The same night, someone stole the air bag, a pouch of coins and a man's wallet from an unlocked van in the 2400 block of Langtree Drive.
Quail Glen, theft: Between 5 p.m. October 5 and 10 a.m. October 6, someone went into an unlocked pickup on Austen Court and stole a wallet with all its contents and other small items.
Fiddyment Farms, traffic stop, arrests: At 3:30 a.m. October 6, an officer stopped a car on northbound Fiddyment Road near Athens Avenue and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and transporting methamphetamine. Three of his passengers were arrested for various charges including possessing burglar's tools, possessing meth, and one for being a parolee at large. While officers were on this stop, another car drove by slowly, and officers stopped that driver as well. He was also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and possessing meth.
