All American Speedway Historical Race Track Book Signing

Roseville, CA -- All American Speedway is Arcadia Publishing's newest historical race track book to be published as part of a licensing agreement with the NASCAR(r) Library Collection, which provides a high level of authentication and quality to NASCAR-licensed books.

It began as a rodeo arena with bucking broncos entertaining an annual gathering for the Placer County Fair in Roseville, California, about 10 miles east of Sacramento. The rodeo grounds eventually gave way to a different kind of horsepower in 1955, when a dirt track was built.

The original Roseville Speedway later became All American Speedway. The surface was paved in 1972 and three years later, its signature race, the Rose Classic, was born. Future NASCAR drivers Ernie Irvan, Mike Skinner and more visited the track. The Rose Classic went away in the early 1990s, but NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action lives on each year.

Each nostalgic volume in Arcadia's NASCAR Library Collection brings race track history to life through extraordinary vintage images. From races run on dirt and clay to the paved speedways of today, discover the historic events, colorful characters and memorable moments that defined America's legendary racing venues.

Bill Poindexter began his career as a sports journalist in 1979 and immediately began covering various disciplines of motorsports. That included an occasional visit to All American Speedway for the Rose Classic and other races.

Currently working as the sports editor at the Roseville Press Tribune, he covers racing at the track and gives the speedway a presence in the newspaper's weekly sports section. This pictorial collection and another on Stockton 99 Speedway are his first two books.
