Roseville Celebrity Chili Cook-Off March 21st
ROSEVILLE - Local community leaders will put on their chef aprons and go head-to-head in a special chili cook-off to benefit programs for Roseville teenagers.
The 2014 Roseville Celebrity Chili Cook-Off will be held on Friday, March 21, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Maidu Community Center.
The chefs will include FOX 40 Morning News Anchor Paul Robins, Roseville Mayor Susan Rohan, William Jessup University President John Jackson, and Sierra College President Willy Duncan, the defending champion from last year's cook-off. The group will be joined by several other local elected officials, education, business, and government leaders.
Proceeds will benefit after-school programs for teenagers and Point Break, an evidence-based program designed to address social issues such as harassment, prejudice, bullying, and suicide.
Nearly 350 people are expected to attend and organizers are continuing to recruit sponsors for the event.
"We are grateful and inspired by the support from the community," said Rob Maxey, organizer of the event and coordinator of the after-school programs that promote safer and healthier school environments. "It is an honor to stand alongside these influential leaders as we serve the needs of students in our community."
Among the celebrity chefs who will be participating - and competing - for the best chili are:
- FOX 40 Morning News Anchor Paul Robins
- Sierra College President Willy Duncan
- William Jessup University President John Jackson
