At approximately 4:45PM yesterday, May 18, 2014, the Sheriff's Department Communications Center received an incomplete 9-1-1 phone call from a residence within the 8000 block of Silk Tree Way in Antelope.

The male on the telephone line reported he had an altercation with his mother at the residence and the line disconnected.  When patrol deputies arrived, they found a 75-year old female deceased inside of the residence.  Deputies detained the male family member who was the only other occupant and resident of the home.

John David Matta, 53, has been arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for the murder of his elderly mother.  The reasons surrounding the altercation remain unknown at this time.  The identity and cause of death of the female victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office.

Anyone having information related to this incident is asked to contact the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (916) 874-5115. Tip information may also be left anonymously at www.sacsheriff.com, by texting to 274637 (CRIMES) and entering the keyword 'SSD', or by calling (916) 874-TIPS (8477).
