East Roseville

Johnson Ranch, burglary: Between 7:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. May 13, someone got into a house in the 3000 block of Dagget Drive while the residents were away, by removing a screen and going through an unlocked window that had been left open for ventiliation. Jewelry and a small safe were taken.

Cirby Ranch, catalytic converter thefts: Between May 11 and May 18 (one of the thefts occurred the night of May 17/18), catalytic converters were stolen from Toyota Sequoia SUVs in the 1300 block of Greenborough Drive and Cambridge Court. The next night, May 18/19, someone stole two catalytic converters from a Toyota Tundra pickup in the 1300 block of Blossom Hill Way.

Central Roseville, south of the tracks

Cherry Glen, robbery: At 11:34 a.m. May 16, officers responded to a robbery that had just happened at two homes, a main residence and a secondary backyard house, in the 200 block of Earl Avenue. The suspect first knocked on the door of the secondary house, identified himself to the resident as a police officer, implied he was armed, and said he was arresting the resident. He ordered the victim to take him to the main residence, where the suspect armed himself with a shotgun, searched the house and demanded property. He took a small amount of cash and left on foot. Officers located the suspect on Vernon Street and arrested the 51-year-old Roseville resident on suspicion of robbery, kidnapping (forcing the victim to move from one location to the other) and burglary.

Folsom Road, weapons arrest: At 1:36 a.m. May 18, an officer stopped a car on Harding Boulevard near Douglas Boulevard, and contacted four males inside the car. The officers found a loaded sawed-off shotgun in the trunk of the vehicle. Officers arrested one of the men, a 19-year-old from North Highlands, on suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and other related charges.

Folsom Road, campus scare: At 10:43 May 19, officers responded to Heald College on Sierra Plaza, to a report that a woman who appeared to be armed with a handgun was acting suspiciously outside an office. Both the college and a charter elementary school in the same plaza were put on lockdown.  Officers surrounded the area and searched for the suspect both inside the college buildings and in the adjacent open space area. Using video surveillance, officers were able to identifiy the suspect as a current student of the college. They found her in a classroom, on lockdown with her fellow students. No weapon was located, but she was reportedly acting strangely. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

North Central Roseville

Stanford Crossing, stolen dog: At 4:50 p.m. May 15, officers responded to the lot of Costco, to a report that someone had stolen a beagle puppy from a car. The pup's owner was driving from the Bay Area to Tahoe. He parked his car in a shaded area of the lot, with all windows partially down, and left the pup inside the car while he went into Costco for a short period of time to buy provisions for his trip. When he returned, someone had taken the pup and left a note indicating they'd taken the pup because it had been left without water. The person did not leave any contact information. On May 17, after extensive media coverage of the theft, an unidentified couple dropped the puppy off at an Auburn-area animal rescue, and it was returned to its owner.

West Roseville

Quail Glen, burglary: Between 8 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. May 14, someone got into a house in the 7200 block of Liverpool Lane through an unlocked garage side door. A laptop computer and memorabilia were stolen.

West Park, disturbance: At 11:46 p.m. May 17, officers responded to the 3200 block of Ardley Drive, to a report of someone firing shots inside a home. A 45-year-old male from Roseville was arrested on suspicion of negligently discharging a firearm.
