Rocklin Brewfest June 7th at Johnson-Springview Park
ROCKLIN - One of South Placer's leading events is coming soon to Rocklin.
On June 7, the South Placer Rotary Club will hold its 6th annual Brewfest, featuring live music by the Gene Thorpe Band, great food, and craft beers made by 35 area breweries. Last year, nearly 800 people turned out for the event.
"Brewfest is our biggest annual fundraiser, generating the money we need to support our efforts in the community," said Mark Siemens, president of the South Placer Rotary. "This event has grown over the years and we are looking forward to an even better event this year."
Tickets for the event, which runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Johnson-Springview Park on 5th Street in Rocklin, are $25 per person when purchased in advance. Tickets bought at the door are $30 per person and $5 for designated drivers.
To purchase tickets for Brewfest, please visit www.RocklinBrewfest.com or call 916-781-0650.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the South Placer Rotary's charitable efforts, including its Hooked on Fishing program for Rocklin youth, providing dictionaries for children and its Christmas basket program for families in need for the community.
In addition, this year the club has taken on a special project to help create a housing fund to assist former foster youth in the community now attending Sierra College. The foster youth often come out of the state system without financial resources and need help to obtain and keep stable housing during their college years.
The Rotary's sponsors this year include: GBD Communities, Halldin Public Relations, Five Star Auto Care, Energy 2001, Kniesels, and Recology Auburn Placer.
"Sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses who would like to showcase their products and services under the trees at Johnson-Springview Park," Siemens said.
Participating breweries include: Lagunitas Brewing Company; Sierra Nevada Brewing Company; Lost Coast Brewery; Shipyard Brewing Company; Auburn Alehouse; The Hoppy Brewery; Mendocino Brewing; Karl Strauss Brewing Company; Rubicon Brewing Company; and Loomis Basin Brewery. And, for the first time, the Brewfest will also feature a handful of wineries.
"We are excited to build on the past success of this event," said Scott Thiel, Chair of this year's Brewfest event and owner and broker of United Country Real Estate. "It has fostered great relationships with the breweries and community members. The funds from this event will provide opportunities to young students who might otherwise not be able to pursue their education goals."
