Roseville Crime Report Digest Update (7.29.14)
Roseville, CA - The Roseville Police Department weekly crime report digest update for July 29, 2014.
Olympus Pointe, theft: Between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. July 25, someone sawed the catalytic converter off the undercarriage of a Toyota Sequoia SUV in the 1600 block of East Roseville Parkway.
Galleria/Harding, carjacking, arrest made: At about 3:30 a.m. July 27, officers responded to a carjacking that had just occurred in the overflow parking lot for The Fountains at the corner of Roseville Parkway and Reserve Drive. The victim was getting into his car when a stranger approached him, pointed a handgun and ordered him to get down on the ground. The stranger then drove away in the victim's Audi sedan. Roseville's dispatchers broadcast a description of the stolen car to surrounding law enforcement agencies, and a few minutes later the Lincoln Police Department spotted it being driven near Joiner Park in their city. The suspect driver fled from the Lincoln officers, crashed the stolen car, and then fled on foot. Roseville and Rocklin police officers and Placer County Sheriff's deputies went to Lincoln to help search for the suspect. A few hours later, a Lincoln Police officer located the suspect hiding in the creek area, and took him into custody. The suspect, a 34-year-old man from Lincoln, was arrested on suspicion of carjacking, evading officers, and other associated charges. This incident was a great example of the teamwork we rely upon with our neighboring law enforcement agencies.
East Roseville Parkway, theft, arrests made: At 4:24 a.m. July 29, officers responded to a report of suspicious activity--people possibly breaking into a pickup--in a hotel parking lot in the 1900 block of Taylor Road. Officers responded and detained four people, and found a Dodge pickup in the lot that was missing its catalytic converter. The suspects had two other catalytic converters from a yet-unidentified Toyota Sequoia in their possession. Two men, ages 22 and 36, and two women, ages 30 and 33, all from Sacramento County, were arrested on suspicion of grand theft, conspiracy and other related charges.
East Roseville Parkway, garage burglary: Overnight July 25/26, someone stole a Green Cannondale mountain bike from a garage in the 2700 block of Carradale Drive. The residents had left the garage door up about a foot for ventilation, which was enough room for a thief to crawl under. In the morning the victim found the garage door all the way up, and the bike gone.
Creekside, burglary: Overnight July 23/24, someone pried the door to an office in the 200 block of Creekside Ridge and stole computer equipment and other electronics.
Johnson Ranch, vehicle burglary: Between 5 p.m. July 22 and 6:30 a.m. July 23, someone smashed the window of a car in the 5000 block of Tilden Drive and stole loose change.
Johnson Ranch, burglary: Between 1 and 5 p.m. July 23, a burglar went into a home in the 5000 block of Ashley Woods Drive through a bathroom window, and stole jewelry.
Johnson Ranch, garage burglary: Between 7:20 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. July 26, someone went into a garage in the 2900 block of Barret Drive, possibly through an unlocked side door, and stole a white Diamond Back mountain bike.
Lead Hill, theft: Between 7:10 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. July 23, someone stole a catalytic converter from a Toyota Sequoia SUV in the 1500 block of Eureka Road.
North Central Roseville
Stanford, theft, arrest made: At about 2 p.m. July 28, someone stole a power saw from a store in the 10000 block of Fairway Drive. Thanks to information provided by an alert witness, officers were able to identify a suspect. They went to Sacramento and arrested a 46-year-old Sacramento man on suspicion of burglary and other related charges. The saw had already been sold. Officers contacted the man who bought the stolen saw, got the saw back and returned it to the victim.
Quail Glen, vehicle burglary: Between 7:30 and 8 p.m. July 24, someone broke the window of an SUV parked at Bear Dog Park and stole a purse from the rear seat. By the time the victim discovered the break-in, her credit cards had already been used at area businesses.
Quail Glen, theft: Between 5 and 5:45 p.m. July 25, someone went into a car parked near Woodcreek High School and the Roseville Aquatics Center and stole a backpack, laptop computer, iPad and other items of value. There was no sign of forced entry.
