Roseville and Lincoln to Host Senior Softball-USA Western Nationals

Roseville, CA -  The 15th Annual Senior Softball-USA Western Nationals (SSUSA) will take place August 3-9 at Foskett Regional Park in Lincoln and Maidu Regional Park in Roseville.

Placer Valley Tourism is delighted to be teaming up with Senior Softball once again to bring this huge event to Placer Valley.  With more than 130 teams participating this will be a record-breaking year making it the biggest and best SSUSA Western Nationals yet.

Teams from all over the Western United States and Canada will be competing in what is best described as the first step to the coveted prize in Senior Softball - the Triple Grand Slam.  Fran Dowell, SSUSA Executive Director, explained that the winners of the Western National also receive a berth to the US National game that is played against the winner of the Eastern Nationals division at the Las Vegas World Masters Championships (WMC) this fall.

"The teams that win both the US National Game and their division title at the WMC will be honored with the Triple Grand Slam and winners in each division will also receive an invitation to the Tournament of Champions in February held in Florida," added Dowell.  However it doesn't stop there, another exciting aspect of the Western Nationals is that the winners of the Northern California State Championship battle against the winners of the Southern California State Championship to decide which region is truly the best in the state.

Clearly this tournament sets the stage for some amazing competition among senior softball players largely due to the exceptional guidance Dowell continues to provide to the organization and their events.  Recently Dowell was elected into the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame for her tremendous service and involvement in Senior Softball since 1998.  She became the first female Executive Director of a major softball organization in 2006 and has continually been instrumental in the growth and success of SSUSA.  Dowell will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in Las Vegas during the WMC on September 28, 2015. Congratulations Fran Dowell and thank you for your incredible dedication to SSUSA!

Players will arrive for check in on Monday, August 3rd and games will begin on August 4th at Foskett Regional Park located at 1561 Joiner Pkwy in Lincoln and at Maidu Regional Park located in Roseville at 1550 Maidu Drive.  Don't miss out on this phenomenal competition between the best senior softball players in the Western United States.
