48th Annual NorCal Tournament of Champions

Rocklin, CA -  Junior high and middle school wrestlers throughout the state are revved up and ready to hit the mats at the 48th Annual NorCal Tournament of Champions (TOC) on Saturday, March 12.

Georgetown Wrestling Club in conjunction with Placer Valley Tourism (PVT) will be hosting this historical and distinguished wrestling tournament at Del Oro High School in Loomis.

There is expected to be more than 500 youth wrestlers, all who had to qualify to enter, coming from as far north as Redding to down south as far as Bakersfield. With 19 different weight classes in the competition that range from 70 to 235 pounds they will be utilizing both gyms at the high school and 11 mats.

Rod Hedlund, who has been at the helm as tournament director for the last 43 years, explained that the TOC continues to be the most prestigious junior high and middle school tournament in California largely because of the experienced and dedicated staff that has worked with him for 20 plus years that includes Steve Cole, local wrestling legend and California State Hall of Fame inductee.

"I'm proud to say we try to make it better each year and working with Steve and the guys at Del Oro has been especially terrific, plus our referees are literally the best in California as almost all of them have been chosen to officiate at the California high school sate tournament," stated Hedlund.  "We've had unbelievable support from PVT  for several years now and it makes the tournament just that much better for everyone involved."
