Rival Sons Album Hollow Bones Crushes It
Roseville, CA- One of the great thrills of being a music fan is the enormous jolt of excitement you receive when a new album simply floors you from start to finish.
Rival Sons newest offering, Hollow Bones may easily snag the high watermark of rock albums for 2016, or perhaps the past 20+ years. To my ears, it's really that good.
During a recent screening at Baker Island Studio in Rocklin, the album was cued up on the turntable. With a modest appreciation of Rival Sons prior to the screening, expectations were tempered.
The needle dropped...it became quickly apparent this was going to be a real sonic treat.
Clocking in at just over 37 minutes with a distinct tip of the hat to past rock gods, Rival Sons manages to deftly craft and combine it into their own powerful sound.
During a first listen, we felt them channeling their inner versions of The Beatles, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Floyd, Lenny Kravitz and even Otis Day and the Knights (You Make Me Wanna Shout), all the while delivering a creative and passionate set they can proudly call their own.
Hollow Bones is a Rival Sons grand slam, worthy of old-timers like myself and the next generation of rock music fans. Our vote for Album of the Year and a must have for any collection.
Rival Sons plays Oracle Arena in Oakland on September 16th.
