articles_030507a.jpgSofia Gutierrez of Halldin Public Relations in Roseville was named Volunteer of the Year by the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at its 35th annual Business Awards banquet.

Gutierrez, who joined Halldin Public Relations in 2005, immediately became active in Hispanic Chamber and became one of the organization’s most willing volunteers. She has supported and helped promote businesses and individuals throughout the Sacramento Hispanic community and also became a member of the Spanish Speaking Committee.

From passing out flyers, sitting at the registration table for the Joe Serna Scholarship Fund, or welcoming new members, Gutierrez always displayed a cheerful demeanor in her many volunteer duties.

“Over the years I have seen many volunteers come and go, but there are few who have tremendously helped the chamber with their time, dedication, commitment, and hard work like Sofia Gutierrez,”said Celia Cortez, Director of Programs and Events for the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “We appreciate individuals like Sofia who make our goals and efforts easier to accomplish.”

Gutierrez was honored along with other business owners and nonprofit groups who have made a difference in the Hispanic Community. There were an estimated 1,000 guests at the annual banquet at the Sacramento Convention Center.

Gutierrez says she found something unique about the group and enjoyed promoting the organization to business leaders and individuals throughout the Sacramento area.

“It's a true honor to have won Volunteer of the Year. The Sacramento Hispanic Chamber has given me the opportunity to contribute to its mission of promoting and supporting businesses in the Hispanic Community,” Gutierrez said. “I plan to continue my ongoing volunteer efforts in the years to come.”

Halldin Public Relations, founded in 1999, serves businesses, associations and government organizations through comprehensive media relations services, including outreach to Latino media throughout California.
