The Placer SPCA is gearing up for its most anticipated event of the year- the19th Annual BBQ & Blues; and with the an exciting line-up combining international, national and local acclaimed blues artists - it's set to be an all-out blues bash! This year's event, scheduled for Saturday, July 12th at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn, will feature Grammy award-winning Koko Taylor and her Blues Machine. The undisputed Queen of the Blues, has been praised for her "Deep soul, raw vocal power, blustery swagger and is considered the great female blues singer of her generation" by Rolling Stone Magazine. For over forty years, Koko has entertained millions, released a dozen or more solo recording albums - receiving 6 Grammy nominations and is considered to be one of the world's greatest blues talent, along with the likes of Etta James. "We are so excited about this year's line-up of entertainment," boasts CEO Leilani Vierra. "And with the second act being considered headliner material as well -it's no wonder why this year's event is being referred to as a double shot of cocoa!" Taking the stage before Koko Taylor will be Coco Montoya, who has been praised for his, "blistering contemporary blues...piercing attack, funky, shivery guitar tones and aggressive, soulful vocals" as quoted by Blues Revue. The annual BBQ & Blues Festival will also feature Cole Fonseca & The Rattlers, plus other local bands. This fan favorite, community based event combines all the elements necessary for a truly great time: talented entertainment, delicious food and drink, enthusiastic music lovers and a wonderful setting, all the while raising funds for a truly great cause - helping homeless companion animals throughout Placer County. Presiding over the festivities will be Charlie Thomas (The Eagle, 96.9 FM). Sponsorship and vendor opportunities are still available.
