articles_020509a.jpgOn February 4, 2009, detectives assigned to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department's Sexual Assault unit arrested two teachers from Futures High School in North Highlands for multiple felony and misdemeanor charges. An initial report was generated by the Twin Rivers Unified School District Police Department and investigated by the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department.

Teacher Eric Charles Gladden (34) was arrested for 34 counts of distribution of lewd material to a minor,  contributing to the delinquency of minors, child annoyance and falsifying documents to be used in evidence involving female students, ages 16 and 17, between March 2008 and January 2009.  An investigation revealed evidence of inappropriate conduct with students; both in person and through cellular phones.  In addition, Gladden supplied students with alcohol at his residence on more than one occasion.

Teacher Monica Maldonado Alarcon (29) was arrested on one felony count of falsifying documents to be used in evidence.  The investigation revealed she assisted Eric Gladden in forging and planting evidence in an attempt to clear him of the accusations.

Both Gladden and Alarcon (see booking photos below) are being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail. Gladden’s bail has been set at $300,000. He is scheduled to be arraigned on February 6, 2009, at 1:30 p.m., in Department 63. Alarcon’s bail has been set at $50,000. She is scheduled to be arraigned on February 6, 2009, at 1:30 p.m., in Department 63.
