What is Rolfing®?
A method of systematically balancing and optimizing both the structure (shape) and function (movement) of the entire body over the course of ten sessions.
How does it work?
It aligns and balances the body’s components until the entire system is a smoothly functioning coordinated whole. This reduces pain, enhances the body’s sense of awareness, and improves posture.
Does it hurt?
Deep work is not necessarily synonymous with physical intensity. The art of Rolfing is to master a wide range of styles of touch and know when a lighter or more intense touch is required. Continuous communication with the client is always essential.
Does it relieve stress?
When you bring the body to a higher level of integration, balance and education, the body becomes more comfortable, and physical and/or emotional stresses diminish.
What is the 10 series?
The hallmark of Rolfing Structural Integration is the “formula or recipe,” the application of which usually involves 10 sessions. Each session usually lasts 60 to 80 minutes.
3 superficial, 4 deep, and 3 integration.
Who should consider Rolfing?
Anyone who has a history of injury or trauma and notices that the cumulative effects of their often minor injuries are beginning to interfere with their everyday lives. This might include former and current athletes, musicians, performers or those engaged in physically demanding jobs who choose not to accept the notion that the quality of their lives must suffer simply because they are aging.
What is Rolfing movement?
It is what makes the structural work stick. It is integrated into the 10 series and offers easily learned solutions to problems that have created imbalances and/or a lack of efficiency in movement within the gravitational field.
