March 14 Transfer Day provides informational visit, campus tour

ROCKLIN, Calif. - Community college students looking to transfer to a four-year college will receive a generous head start on tuition payments by attending William Jessup University.

The only private, four-year university whose campus is in the Greater Sacramento area, William Jessup is offering a $2,000 grant ($1,000 per semester) to any admitted new transfer from a community college with 24 or more transferable credits.

The grants are available to students from Sierra, American River, Sacramento City, Cosumnes River, Delta, Feather River, Woodland and Yuba colleges.

The grant would be renewed each year that the student is enrolled as a full-time student in good academic standing.

To help all incoming students learn more about William Jessup, the university has scheduled its annual Transfer Day on Friday, March 14 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The day is specifically designed for students currently attending a community college or a four-year university who wish to tour the Rocklin campus.

“William Jessup University offers expanded curriculum opportunities in a small school setting with a student-to-faculty ratio of 12-to-1,” said Vance Pascua, Director of Undergraduate Admission at William Jessup. “We welcome the opportunity to offer a very different and distinct option than that of the large, public universities in the area.”

Transfer Day provides an informational visit for prospective William Jessup students to learn more about the educational opportunities at the Christian university and its campus life. Students will take a campus tour, have lunch, meet with major department chairs, and receive information from admissions, the financial aid department and curriculum advisors. Parents are also welcome to attend.

“Choosing the right college is a very significant decision, so it is important to give students an opportunity to come for a visit and learn about all facets of our campus,” Pascua said. “Students can really benefit from spending an entire day with us and getting a glimpse of what makes our university special.”

William Jessup offers an innovative curriculum that is rooted in both educational traditions of the past and relevant teaching practices that meet the needs of today’s students. The average class size is 15 students.

The William Jessup University was founded in 1939 in San Jose and relocated its main campus to Rocklin in 2004. The campus is an impressive blend of modern architecture and state-of-the-art technology. It is situated on 126 acres and is located 20 miles northeast of Sacramento.

William Jessup welcomes transfer students regardless of the number of units completed at other accredited colleges and universities. Applicants who have completed more than 24 solid academic semester units at the time of application will have their admission evaluation done primarily on the basis of college work.

If an applicant has completed less than 24 solid academic semester units at the time of application, the admission evaluation will be done primarily on the basis of their final high school transcript, SAT/ACT scores and completed college work.

To enroll for Transfer Day, students must RSVP online to khernandez@jessup.edu or call the Admissions office at (916) 577-2222.
